Japanese violinist Yukiko Uno was born in 1995 and began playing the violin at the age of four.
Yukiko Uno is a laureate in the Queen Elisabeth Competition for violin 2019. She is also a multiple prizewinner from international and national competitions, including two-time first prizewinner of the International Violin Competition Andrea Postacchini Competition (2016,2017), Gifu International Music Festival (2013,2014), first prize winner of Chengdu Guangya Violin Competition, Czech Music Competition. She was also a semifinalist of George Enescu, Johannes Brahms, Henri Marteau, Munetsugu Angel, Torun International Violin Competition.
Uno has appeared as a soloist with orchestra such as the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Belgian National Orchestra in Belgium, the Chamber Orchestra of Nagoya in Japan, Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana in Italy, Symphony Orchestra of University Mozarteum in Austria conducted by Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Hugh Wolff, Michele Nitti, Johannes Kalitzke, Kazuki Wada. In 2018 she was invited to St.Gellert International Music Festival with St.Gellert Academy Orchestra conducted by Yoon Kuk Lee, performing Mozart’s Sinfonie Concertante KV.364.
As an active chamber musician, Uno has performed as a member of Camerata de Lausanne directed by Pierre Amoyal. She has performed for artists such as Viktor Tretyakov, Vadim Repin, Mihaela Martin, Rainer Küchl, Pavel Gililov, Ferenc Rados, Szabadi Vilmos, and Herwig Zack by attending various international music events including Mozarteum International Summer Academy, Kronberg Summer Academy, International Järvi Academy, Lausanne Music Academy, Kawaguchiko Violin Seminar, Gifu Liszt Master course and more.
She studied at the Music High School attached to the Faculty of Music,Tokyo University of the Arts, where her teachers included Natsumi Tamai, Kazuki Sawa, Ryo Mikami. In 2014 she was accepted into Tokyo University of the Arts as a recipient of Tokuji Munetsugu Scholarship and since 2015 she added further violin studies with Pierre Amoyal at University Mozarteum Salzburg. Uno is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree as a student of Rainer Schmidt.
