Krzysztof Jakowicz

 

Krzysztof Jakowicz is an outstanding Polish violinist, graduated with honors from studing of playing the violin led by such famous artists as professor Tadeusz Vronsky, Joseph Hinhold, Eugene Uminska, Janus Stanken, Henrik Schering.

Especially he was highly valued by Witold Lutoslawski, who instructed him all the Polish premiere of his violin works (“Lancuch II”, “Partita” in a version with orchestra, “Subito”-the last work of the composer).

Krzysztof Jakowicz has repeatedly been invited to participate of the world famous festivals,  such as Edinburgh Festival, Berliner Festspiele, Old Krakow Festiwal, Schleswig-Holstein Festival. He has performed with such famous orchestras as the English Chamber Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker, BBC Scottish Symphony, Orchestre, Sinfonia Varsovia, NOSPR. He collaborated with such prominent conductors as Riccardo Chailly, Pinchas Stemberg, Michael Tabachnik.

He received many honorary awards: «Orpheus”(1986 - Best performance of Polish composer’s works at «Warsaw Autumn» festival), „Diapason d’Or” (1989, “Lancuch II”, W. Lutoslawski), “Frederick” 96 (Performing “Partity” W. Lutoslawski ).

He received awards from Minister of Culture and Arts and Minister of Foreign Affairs for spreading Polish culture outside of the Fatherland, also from Union of Polish Composers for the implementation of numerous contemporary Polish music (in many cases dedicated to him).
